Applications for membership do not hold firm until a completed and signed application form together with the full membership subscription fee has been received by VI-SA-GB (hereinafter referred to as “the association”). “The association” reserves the right to decline applications for membership without explanation.
Memberships that are not renewed with the appropriate subscription fee being paid to the association within 6 months of the membership renewal date will forefit the right to continue as members and the subsequent rights to vote as detailed in the associations articles.
Members (hereinafter referred to as “you”) must be 18 years at the date of application for membership
As specified in the relevant association event details are accepted with full payment due 4 weeks prior to the association event commencement date (hereinafter referred to as “the commencement date”). If you fail to pay the balance 4 weeks prior to the commencement date the association reserves the right to treat your booking as cancelled. The full association event fee is required for any booking made within 6 weeks of the commencement date.
If you cancel or change the association event date, for whatever reason, you must do so in writing and the following charges will apply:-
Whilst every attempt will be made to ensure that the association events actually run, the association reserves the right to vary or cancel any association events should this become necessary, i.e. due to dangerous or unsuitable conditions, inclement weather, or where advice from the Coast Guard agency is not to set out to sea in a particular area. In the most unlikely event of cancellation by the association, an alternative association event date will be offered or monies will be refunded in full.
You are strongly recommended to t ake out your own travel and appropriate sports insurance adequate for your needs and with suitable cover for your participation in association events. This is; in particular, needed for medical cover when travel to the Channel Islands is likely.
For association events a general standard of fitness is recommended. If you have a medical condition, you are strongly advised to seek your doctor’s advice. Information given to VI-SA-GB will be strictly confidential. The association can not be held responsible for any illness or injury caused as a result of an ongoing medical condition and/or poor standard of health & fitness. Should the VI-SA-GB's skipper consider you to be unfit for the association event you will not be admitted on to the association event.
The association operates a Risk Assessment procedure as set out by the Health & Safety Executive guidelines. The information provided by you in your application for membership form is an integral part of this process and the association can not be held responsible for any illness or injury brought about or exacerbated by non-disclosure or embellishment of an existing medical condition, a non disclosed disability, allergy, illness or injury.
You must comply with the safety regulations and instructions of the associations volunteers. Should a skipper or crew member find that you are jeopardising the safety of yourself or others, then you will leave the associations event and you will not be entitled to a refund. Should you fail to adhere to any mandatory items in the VI-SA-GB kit list and/or safety instructions issued by the associations volunteers, the association can not be held responsible for any resulting illness or injury.
You are responsible for the associations equipment, issued to you during the association event, and will be liable for loss or breakage. All equipment must be handed back in the same condition as it was given to you. A full kit list of what you must bring with you is clearly stated in our itineraries, and in the directions issued to you prior to the association event.
You are responsible for your personal belongings and equipment. The association can not be held responsible for any loss or damage to your personal belongings caused as a result of your own negligence or theft by another party.
You must respect the environment being utilised throughout the association event. The association will not be responsible for any damage or destruction caused to the sea, foreshore, or pontoons and harbours or wild-life therein due to your neglect or actions. If you are found to have caused, or are behaving in a manner likely to cause, such damage or destruction, you will leave the association event without refund and may also be liable for compensation to be paid to the owner of such land or property.
All information provided and presented by the association is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, copy or transmit, in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, recording or otherwise, without the prior written permission of the association.
